Thrive in Balance interview about humor and life
Thanks to Jordan Mercedes for the wonderful interview she conducted with me on her program, Thrive in Balance program on BlogTalkRadio. We dished about humor writing, trying to find that elusive balance between work, creativity and “life,” and shared a lot of good laughs and some practical life wisdom, all in about 30 minutes. Click on the link above to listen (it’s about 30 minutes or so).
Meet Me in Las Vegas
On July 31, I’ll be speaking at the National Mothers of Twins annual convention in Las Vegas. If you are a mom of twins, I hope you’ll come and say hello! In fact, if your organization would like me to speak on motherhood, marriage, or work-life balance issues, drop me an email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). I always love the opportunity to meet new audiences.
Of Laugh Lines and Long Life
My goal was to sell this magazine on an interview with Joseph Epstein, one of my very favorite writers, who is an emeritus professor at Northwestern Univeristy. Instead, I sold them this essay, Laugh Lines and Long Life, since I’m an alumnus of the graduate school of journalism. The piece came out well; I hope you enjoy it.
What people are saying about The Women’s Daily Irony Supplement:
“This hilarious collection of essays covers topics from forwarding e-mail (who can’t relate?), bad contractors, holidays, purse fever, men, motherhood, and pop culture. Nothing is safe from Judy Gruen’s ability to poke fun and find the humor in even the direst of circumstances. . . The Women’s Daily Irony Supplement is funny, engaging, and the perfect entertainment when you’re feeling blue.”

“I love books that sell themselves, and I had orders for this one before it even made it to the shelf. This book will find a home on my humor shelf, and I hope it will find a home on the Book Sense Picks List too! Bravo.”
— Keri Holmes, bookseller, The Kaleidoscope, Hampton, Iowa
“When I was reading this collection of columns, I’d think: This is my favorite—until I read my next favorite. . . This is the book to have along ready for a quick read or to give a woman friend as a gift because you know she’ll see her self in several stories—as you did. Any book that can make me laugh at EVERY story deserves a 5-star rating from me.”

They published a quote from The Women’s Daily Irony Supplement, and you can see it here:

“Have you noticed that dogs are the new kids? You take a walk with your kid and your dog, but nobody says, ‘What a cute kid!’ Instead they say, ‘What a cute dog! What’s his name? Is he a rescue?’ Maybe if I put a collar and leash on my kid someone will notice her.”
